From Misfits to Milestones

In this episode of Your Next Business Bestie, I chat with my friend Casey Openshaw, an occupational therapist and business owner. We met back in college, living in the same dorm, but it wasn’t until years later, after reconnecting in Colorado, that we became close friends. We laugh about our “House of Misfits” days, a time when we were figuring out life and supporting each other through rough patches. Fast forward to today, and we’ve both built thriving businesses that serve our communities in unique ways.

Casey shares her journey from starting her OT practice out of her mom’s house to expanding into two brick-and-mortar locations in rural Maine. She talks about the challenges of building a business in a small town, managing a growing team, and the lessons she’s learned about leadership and boundaries. We also discuss her upcoming course, “COPEN,” aimed at helping parents and educators with emotional regulation strategies for kids. Casey’s story is one of resilience, growth, and the power of friendship, making this episode a meaningful listen for anyone navigating their own entrepreneurial path.
